Decreased interest in microarrays, combined with increased interest in genomics and bioinformatics has resulted in a refocusing of our efforts. Until further notice, microarray workshops will no longer be offered.

DESCRIPTION

Investigators contemplating or pursuing studies in differential gene expression leading to functional identification are invited to participate in OSU's comprehensive, hands-on workshop on DNA Microarraying. This entry-level workshop will lead participants through the processes and techniques for designing, printing, hybridizing, scanning, and bioinformatics analysis of spotted microarrays. This course is designed for participants with a working knowledge and understanding of molecular biology and molecular genetics theory and techniques. This course uses Windows-based computers. The cost of $300 will cover expenses for all instruction, laboratory supplies, use of equipment and  printed take-home lab manuals. Course credit is available (OSU students only). We have had several cancellations in recent years due to problems entering the United States. Please check your local consulate for any restrictions, and we will be happy to provide a letter regarding your "business" in the United States.

COST
$300 per person. Your registration fee will cover expenses for all instruction, laboratory supplies, use of equipment and a lab manual. Daily continental breakfast and coffee/cookie breaks are also included. Out of town participants can arrange hotel accommodations by calling the Student Union Hotel at 405-744-6835 and daily commuters can contact the OSU Police Department (405-744-6525) for a daily parking permit.

WHO CAN ATTEND: ANYBODY! This Workshop course can be taken for OSU graduate course credit.

  • OSU graduate students may register for 1 credit hour of BIOC 6820. Section to be announced.
  • Graduate credit is a two-step process. First you must register for the workshop, paying the $300. Then get a permission slip signed by Dr. Hoyt and take it to the registrar's office to register for the course
  • Normal tuition fees are required for course credit, but are not included in the registration fee, and fees can not be waived
